Neuro oncology (brain tumours)

Our team of experts treat a high volume of brain tumours, which prepares us to take care of every patient in every situation.  Our team of experts, work together to provide our patients with care of patients with brain tumours.   We discuss all brain tumour cases in the weekly neuro-oncology multi-disciplinary (MDT) meeting. Our neur-oncology MDT meeting is linked with neuro-oncology experts in Broomfield Hospital, Basildon Hospital and Colchester. This provides an integrated neuro-oncological care to population of Essex.

Conditions we commonly treat:

  • Gliomas
  • Brain metastasis
  • Meningiomas
  • Low grade gliomas
  • Other brain tumours

Treatment

Our team provide the most recent treatment in management of brain tumours. Gliolan assisted resection for malignant brain tumours provide a maximum resection of this type of aggressive brain tumours. Our theatres are equipped with intra operative ultrasonography, most recent image guidance technologies. Our team perform awake brain surgery for brain tumours.

Whole Genome Sequencing

The Neuro-oncology service offers tissue storage and Whole Genome Sequencing. This enables the full genome of a tumour to be analysed and is a requirement for entry into some clinical trials. This is considered for all patients at our weekly Neuro-oncology Multidisciplinary Meeting- please ask your neuro-oncology team if you have any questions about this, or contact us through the contact us webpage.
