Vehicular access is via the Goods/Service Yard. The Mortuary is open for collections between 09:00-12:30 and 13:30-15:00, Mon - Fri.

King George Hospital Mortuary - Barley Lane, Goodmayes, IG3 8YB

Vehicular access is via the Goods/Service Yard. The Mortuary is open for collections between 09:00-11:00, Mon - Fri.

We are closed at weekends and on Bank Holidays, however we do provide a limited Out of Hours service between 09:00-13:00 during these periods for emergency release. Arrangements for Out of Hours collection should be made with the Duty Site Manager via switchboard.

The funeral director or representative must complete a Mortuary Collection Form.[pdf] 162KB with the deceased patients information as well as the details of the person instructing them to carry out the collection.

The information required in every case is:

• Full Name
• Date of Birth
• Date of Death
• Last Home Address
• Place of Death
• Name and contact number of Next of Kin / Executor
• Details of Funeral Director or representative.

A minimum of three points of identification must match.

Deaths investigated by HM Coroner will only be released when the mortuary has received written authorisation from the Coroner’s Court.
