We've appointed a new Chief Medical Officer
We are pleased to have appointed Mamta Shetty Vaidya as our new Chief Medical Officer, following a competitive recruitment process in which she stood out among a strong field.
Mamta, a consultant paediatric intensivist, is currently Deputy Medical Director at The Royal London Hospital, where she has worked for more than 15 years. She will replace Magda Smith, who will be leaving the Trust at the end of March to start in her new role as Group Deputy Chief Medical Officer at Barts Health.
Mamta said: “I’m amazed and absolutely delighted to be joining the leadership team at BHRUT on their improvement journey. I can’t wait to enjoy the joy that comes with the exciting new role. I’m looking forward to your support in making the care we deliver outstanding.”
Chief Executive Matthew Trainer said: “I’m delighted that Mamta is going to be joining us here at BHRUT.
“She brings a wealth of experience, having held roles as both clinical and divisional director, and leading the Clinical Transformation team, focusing on flow and discharge, as well as patient safety. She also leads the Pan London Improvement Collaborative for children and young people with a focus on integrated care as a way of improving life chances for children and families.
“At the same time, we are sad to see Magda moving on. She has been with the Trust for more than 25 years and played a pivotal role in helping to steer our Trust through the pandemic.”
Remi Odejinmi, our Director for Equality, Inclusion and Diversity (EDI) will also be leaving the Trust to take up the reins as Medical Director at Whipps Cross Hospital, one of several new medical director appointments at Barts Health.
Matthew added: ”I’d like to congratulate Remi on her new role. She has been instrumental in supporting our clinical strategy work and has made a strong impact as our first Director of EDI. I am sure she will be a great success.”
