Welcome to our new junior doctors
We have 400 new junior doctors joining our Trust over the next three months as from August each year, trusts across the country welcome new recruits, while the previous year’s intake head off on the next step in their careers.
As part of their training, first year foundation doctors undertake work shadowing, while rotating among hospital departments to learn all aspects of their role.
We hold a detailed induction for all our junior doctors and provide them with on-going support in their new roles.
Mamta Shetty Vaidya, our Chief Medical Officer, said: “I am looking forward to meeting this next generation of doctors and hugely value the contribution they will be making to our hospitals and the local community. They are a key part of our team as they are the medical workforce of the future.”
Aminah Ahmed (above), a junior doctor who has just finished her training with us, has decided to stay at our Trust. She decided to start her career with us following such a positive training experience.
Aminah said: “I have had a great time doing my placements at BHRUT and have decided this is where I want to work. When I was on placements, the training I had was varied and that’s something I enjoyed. I spent a lot of time in theatre as well as on the wards to develop my skills as a surgeon.
“The teaching is interactive and the staff are so friendly. When it came to the end of my time as a junior doctor I didn’t want to leave. It was clear this is where I want to be.”
