Consultants are on strike until 7am on Saturday 22 July. 

As the strike follows just two days after the longest junior doctors’ strike yet, we are continuing to see a significant impact on services across our hospitals. We’re working hard to ensure we can cover emergency care throughout the strike; however, we have had to rearrange 872 outpatient appointments, and 61 non-urgent surgeries.

We are prioritising patients who need urgent care, including cancer patients and those who have experienced longer waits.

If your appointment or surgery is rescheduled, we will contact you directly. If you do not hear from us, please come in as planned.

While our A&Es will remain open during the strike it’s likely they will be under considerable strain which means if you do not need emergency care you will face very long waits.

Across four previous strikes by junior doctors, which have been held each month since April, we have had to arrange 8.358 outpatient appointments and 605 non-urgent surgeries. The impact of the industrial action has cost our Trust £1.3m, while cancelled surgeries has meant we have lost out on £1.2m income.
