Showing our appreciation for our amazing nurses

It’s International Nurses’ Day today (Wednesday 12 May) and after an extremely difficult year for all our nursing staff, we wanted to show our appreciation for their hard work.

Breakfast trollies full of tasty treats were delivered to nursing teams across our hospitals this morning, and wards and departments also held their own celebrations. Chief Nurse, Kathryn visited various wards meeting nurses that were on shift throughout the day.

Kathryn Halford OBE, our Chief Nurse said: “I would like to say a very big thank you all for your continued hard work and dedication, ensuring our patients receive the very best possible care. I am incredibly proud of everything you do and feel honoured to work alongside some truly fantastic nurses. You make a huge contribution not only to our hospitals, but also to our communities.

“Wishing you all a very happy International Nurses’ Day.”

The theme for International Nurses’ Day this year is ‘A Voice to Lead – a vision for future healthcare’. A virtual celebration will be held, bringing together nurses from across our Trust to discuss their vision for the future.

We have employed more than 450 international nurses since 2019. The international nurses bring a vast and varied experience and help to fill gaps in our workforce so we can provide high quality care.

Thank you to Sodexo, Mitie for helping arrange and facilitate the breakfast treats.
