At BHRUT we recognise and appreciate our colleagues for the exceptional work they do every day, as well as celebrate long serving staff who have been working for our Trust for 20, 30 or 40 years.

Shaida Ghazala Akhtar, who works as Senior Staff Nurse at King George Hospital, is retiring at the end of the month after 40 years of service to the NHS.

Ghazala had a special day on Friday 8 July. She was presented with a long service award certificate, retirement certificate and gift vouchers by Chief Executive Matthew Trainer.

Matthew praised Ghazala for her commitment to the Trust and her service to our patients. He said: “I wish Ghazala all the very best in her retirement, she’s certainly earnt it and we’ll miss her.”

Ghazala commented: “It was such an honour to receive the long service and retirement awards from Matthew Trainer, the fact that he presented the awards in my department made it extra special.

“I was delighted with the gift vouchers and loved the BHRUT 40 years of service badge. I hope that I made a difference to the lives of my patients and work colleagues during my 40 years of service.”
