Revamped Children’s Emergency Department at King George Hospital is here to look after you
Our Children’s Emergency Department (ED) at Queen’s Hospital has been very busy recently, so we want to remind you that our upgraded Children’s ED at King George Hospital is also open 24-hours-a-day, seven days a week.
At the end of last year, we invested £800k transforming King George Hospital Children’s ED into a state-of-the-art facility, which has been specifically designed with children and babies in mind.
It now has four extra cubicles, a larger waiting room which has doubled in size, a high dependency bay, and a dedicated consultation room for children with mental health needs.
Consultant Paediatrician Aber Eaqub, who is also our Lead for Children’s ED, said: “We have fantastic Children’s ED facilities at both of our hospitals. Even if Queen’s is your nearest hospital, I can assure you that your child will receive the same treatment at King George Hospital.
“The investment at King George is wonderful news for local families, as well as our staff, as it is better equipped to treat poorly children.”
Knowing what to do when your child is unwell or injured can be confusing and worrying. If your child has an urgent, but not life-threatening, health problem and you’re unsure whether you need to visit one of our busy EDs, contact NHS 111. If it’s a life-threatening emergency, phone 999.
