Jacqui Smith has stepped down as our Chair after being appointed an Education Minister by the Prime Minister. She will also become a member of the House of the Lords.

Our future doctors, nurses and scientists were inspired during a two-day careers fair at Queen’s Hospital, with almost 1,000 primary and secondary school pupils from across Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge talking to NHS staff about their jobs.

We’re delighted to announce that Fiona Wheeler, our Chief Operating Officer, is also taking on the position of Deputy Chief Executive.

Queen’s Hospital will be encouraging schoolchildren to think about working in the NHS when it holds a careers fair for pupils from across Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge. It’s expected that around 1,300 children from local primary and secondary schools will attend the event on Wednesday 3 July.

Junior doctors are on strike until 7am on Tuesday 2 July.

We’re pleased to announce that David Newey is our new Chief Digital Transformation Officer (interim).

Congratulations to Fern ward at Queen’s Hospital for attaining silver in our ward accreditation programme.

Angelina Markou is our first intern to secure a job at our Trust, with our Outpatients team in the clinic prep department. She’s one of seven interns who joined us last year as part of Project SEARCH, a transition into work programme for young adults aged 17-19 with a learning disability and/or autism.
