We held a special event to honour our dedicated volunteers who give up their spare time to help at our Trust. They were treated to a lunch and awards celebration at Queen’s Hospital in the marquee on Thursday 11 July.

We’ve been celebrating 3,855 years’ service, 220 graduates and our 10 staff award winners!

Jacqui Smith has stepped down as our Chair after being appointed an Education Minister by the Prime Minister. She will also become a member of the House of the Lords.

Our future doctors, nurses and scientists were inspired during a two-day careers fair at Queen’s Hospital, with almost 1,000 primary and secondary school pupils from across Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge talking to NHS staff about their jobs.

We’re delighted to announce that Fiona Wheeler, our Chief Operating Officer, is also taking on the position of Deputy Chief Executive.

Queen’s Hospital will be encouraging schoolchildren to think about working in the NHS when it holds a careers fair for pupils from across Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge. It’s expected that around 1,300 children from local primary and secondary schools will attend the event on Wednesday 3 July.

Junior doctors are on strike until 7am on Tuesday 2 July.

Our Chief Executive, Matthew Trainer, has come top in the HSJ’s (Health Service Journal) annual ranking of the top 50 CEOs in the country.
