New shop opens at King George Hospital

KGH shop unveiling

A much-awaited new shop, stocked with all the essentials for staff and patients from sandwiches to shower gel, opened at King George Hospital on Thursday 11 January.

KGH shop with new signage  The shop, which is located in the hospital atrium, was introduced thanks to the work of our Estates and Facilities team and Mitie, our facility management company which runs it, following repeated requests from staff and patients.

Sean Greene, our Director of Estates and Facilities, said: “This is something both staff and patients really wanted, my team received multiple requests to make it happen.

“We are so glad we could make it a reality. Thank you to everyone involved.”

Sonya Lanfear, Account Director at Mitie, added: “It’s a fantastic addition to the atrium and we are delighted to have delivered this for the Trust.

“We will be asking for customer feedback on stock items and will do our utmost to accommodate as much as we can.”

The opening ceremony involved a ribbon cutting by Louise Dark, Managing Director at King George Hospital.

It only took five weeks to develop and build the shop.
