Local schoolchildren get their antlers on to raise money for our hospitals

Among schools raising money for our hospitals in this year’s Reindeer Run was Harrow Lodge Primary School in Hornchurch. (Pictured above are children with school mascot Harry Lodge).
The school held its Reindeer Run, in which children are sponsored to complete laps of the playground sporting handmade reindeer antlers, on Thursday 10 December, with over 200 children taking part.
Additional money was also raised by other pupils who, although self-isolating due to Covid-19, were still able to join in from home by running on the spot with their antlers on.
Altogether the children raised an impressive £1,017 for our charity, which organised the event. (Pictured below are children in action in the playground.)
Proud headteacher Lynette Searle, said: “Our children love to help others in need, this year, they’ve been donating presents for needy children in our own community. To have the opportunity to raise money for our local hospitals to give young children some joy at Christmas was just wonderful.
“The children loved running around the playground with their antlers swaying in the wind. Our school mascot, Harry Lodge, even got in on the fun, dancing to Christmas music and trying to keep up with the children.”
Other schools taking part in this year’s Reindeer Run were: Whybridge Infant School, Becontree Primary, Whybridge Junior School, John Bramston Primary, Scargill Infant School, William Ford Church of England School, Mawney Foundation School, Newtons Primary, Suttons Primary, Manford Primary, Cleveland Road Primary, Crownfield Junior School, St Albans Catholic Primary, St Joseph’s Primary, and Lime Academy Forest Approach.
