Intern team win at the London Healthcare Support Worker Awards
Our Healthcare Assistant (HCA) Intern team won in the Widening Access and Supporting Diversity category of the London Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) Awards 2023.
The awards are dedicated to honouring the contributions of HCSWs, teams and trusts across London, recognising the pivotal role they play in the delivery of exceptional patient care.
Judges praised our team for how widely they promoted the role across various ethnic groups, cultures, and communities. They actively went out to meet different age groups and communities, which helped motivate new people to become HCAs at our Trust.
Beverley Sawer, our Lead Intern/Recruitment Nurse said: “The HCA Intern team have worked so hard to ensure our recruitment of all HCSWs is the best it can be in London. We have linked in with our local communities by providing several career fairs as well as working with lots of external organisations such as the job centres, local colleges, and school leavers.
“We are proud that our work to ensure everyone has the opportunity to work as a HCA in our Trust has been recognised and rewarded.”
The awards ceremony took place at Kensington Town Hall on Tuesday 17 October. We were also shortlisted in several other categories.
The HCA Intern team recruit and ensure all new HCAs are supported as they start their careers at our Trust. They provide pastoral support to newly recruited HCAs, as well as those already in post across 55 wards and departments in our Trust.
