Ray Allen, 66, never forgot the great care he received from our staff at the then Oldchurch Hospital, returning over 20 years later to give a donation of £2,700.

Ray was looked after by our team when he was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma at 42. He was treated successfully and years later, found he had the opportunity to raise money for a good cause close to his heart when he was captain of the Mardyke Valley Golf Club.

He chose the King George and Queen’s Hospitals Charity as a way to say thank you to our staff for looking after him so well all those years ago.

The donation will go towards our Sunflower Suite, where our cancer patients are cared for at Queen’s Hospital.

Ray said: “I’m so pleased to be here today to hand over this donation to the Sunflower Suite just as a small way to show my appreciation for the great care I received.”

Our Trust is even closer to Ray’s heart now, as daughter Nichola Crisp is a community midwife in our Maternity team.
