Fiona is our new deputy CEO
We’re delighted to announce that Fiona Wheeler, our Chief Operating Officer, is also taking on the position of Deputy Chief Executive.
In this role, she will deputise when necessary for Matthew Trainer, our CEO; represent our Trust in Havering as part of what’s known as a place based partnership; and play a crucial role in the work we’re doing as members of an acute provider collaborative with Barts Health and Homerton Healthcare to improve and broaden access to services for all the residents of north east London.
Welcoming Fiona’s appointment, Matthew Trainer said:
It’s great to have Fiona as my deputy. During her time at BHRUT, she has been instrumental in the success of the work we’ve been doing to develop resilient services, tackle our waiting lists and improve our A&E performance. Her hard work and unrelenting focus on the needs of our patients played a key role in helping us leave special measures.
Fiona began working in healthcare at King’s College Hospital 30 years ago as a junior administrator.
In the years since then, she has undertaken a wide range of strategic and operational leadership roles across the NHS and has delivered demonstrable improvements in clinical and operational services.
