College tutor shows his love for us

A metal sculpture, featuring the NHS letters full of hearts, is now proudly on display outside our Cardiology Department at King George Hospital. It was made for us by Otis Griffith, an electrical installation teacher at Havering College.

Otis created the sculpture in his free time during lockdown to show his thanks to NHS workers for saving lives during the Covid-19 pandemic. He was inspired after taking part in the Thursday evening claps for the NHS.

He said: “Building sculptures in my passion – as well as teaching. I wanted to do something to show appreciation for all the hard working NHS staff, so I set myself a challenge.

“I’m really pleased the hospital trust liked it so much.”
