Celebrating Pride
We celebrated Pride month in June with events including walkabouts and a Pride Party, which culminated in joining the London Pride march on Saturday 1 July.
The month was about celebrating people, love, inclusion and acceptance, as part of our Trust’s commitment to ensure everyone feels safe and comfortable to bring their whole selves to work.
Co-chair of our LGBT+ network, Cameron Pacey, said “Pride is so important. It’s about celebrating ourselves and showcasing to our colleagues, patients and service users that this is a safe place whereby people can be their whole and authentic selves.
“Thank you to all our colleagues, including our wonderful Equality Diversity and Inclusion team, who joined us on the day and made it so special.”
Amelia Perrett, fellow co-chair of our LGBT+ network, added: “I always enjoy the atmosphere of Pride. You’re surrounded by love and positivity as we all come together and celebrate each other. I particularly appreciated that this year the trans flag was quite prominent, an acknowledgement of solidarity given the backlash the trans community has received over the last year.
“I know it serves as a huge inspiration to people that we can be who we are and if they came to our hospitals, they are not alone, and they are seen."
