Getting to King George Hospital

Bus routes

The buses numbered 173, 362, EL3 and 396 all serve King George Hospital.

Bus 66 serves Eastern Avenue which is a 10 minute walk from the hospital with a footpath directly into the back of the hospital.

Trains

If you are travelling to King George Hospital by train, the closest station is Goodmayes, served by the Elizabeth line. The station is a 25 minute walk from the hospital. The EL3 bus is on the opposite side of the road from the station and comes into the hospital.

London Underground

If you are travelling by tube, the nearest stations are Dagenham Heathway (District line) then the 173 bus, or Newbury Park (Central line) then the 396 bus into the hospital.

Car

If you are travelling by road from the M11, take the left fork exit marked A12/City.

Keeping left, take the A12 exit. At the roundabout (Redbridge station) take the second exit for Eastern Avenue (A12 eastbound).

Continue on the A12 to the next roundabout (Gants Hill) and take the third exit towards Romford.

Continue on to the fourth set of traffic lights then turn right into Barley Lane - the hospital is approximately a quarter of a mile down on the right.

From the M25, at junction 28 take the A12 westwards towards Romford.

At the next roundabout (Gallows Corner) take the third exit, continuing on the A12 to Ilford.

At the fifth set of traffic lights, turn left into Barley Lane, the hospital is approximately a quarter of a mile down on the right.

Cycling

King George Hospital is close to Eastern Avenue (A12), Barley Lane and Goodmayes train station. We’re well connected with the main cycle routes, as outlined on the Redbridge Council website.

The hospital can be accessed from Barley Lane, Eastern Avenue A12 gate and Goodmayes Hospital sports ground (a green narrow route).

Parking at King George Hospital

The King George Hospital main car park is operated by automatic number plate recognition (ANPR). This means there are no entrance or exit barriers and you don't collect a paper ticket on entry. Cameras record the registration plate of each entrance and exit.

Before you leave, enter your vehicle registration into the payment machine, which will tell you the amount to be paid. Payment machines are near the Emergency Department, block 6 entrance and at the exit. The machines accept cash and contactless payment.

All machines have clear instructions, parking charges and parking enforcement information. If you leave without paying you will pay a penalty charge.

Blue badge holders

Blue Badge Holders can park for free in the dedicated disabled parking areas by the main entrance and near the Treatment Centre. You must pay to park elsewhere.
