Stakeholder update from Chief Executive Matthew Trainer: 30 September 2022
For residents to receive the care they deserve, it’s vital that health partners across north east London (NEL) work together.
While we continue to work closely with neighbouring trusts Barts Health and the Homerton, the relationship with our GPs is equally as important. To strengthen our relationship with primary care, we’ve appointed three new Associate Medical Directors (AMDs) who are very familiar with boroughs.
I’m delighted to welcome experienced GPs Dr Jagan John, Dr Anil Mehta and Dr Atul Aggarwal, who many of you will be familiar with. They will each join us for one day a week and will work closely with clinicians to improve the experience of our patients both inside the hospital and when discharged back into the community.
Atul will focus on planned care, Jagan will look at urgent and emergency care and Anil will be a key link for GPs to improve patient pathways.
Following our latest inpatient survey results, improving the experience of all patients in our hospitals is a priority and I’m hoping our AMDs will help us do this. The results are not good enough and we must do more.
We’ve also allocated a dedicated member of our Patient Experience team to each divisional area of our hospitals to work alongside clinical staff, which will allow a more individual focus on the issues affecting different wards.
These results also relate to a year ago and since then we have been working hard to make changes. Recent feedback from our patients shows this is having a positive impact. I will keep you updated on our progress.
The world's biggest Coffee Morning returns
Macmillan's Coffee Morning is one of the biggest fundraising events to support people living with cancer and we took part earlier today at Queen’s and King George hospitals.
Our staff were busy baking and there was plenty of cake to go around, as well as a raffle, and all donations will go towards helping people with cancer.
Best wishes.
