Stakeholder update from Chief Executive Matthew Trainer: 27 September 2024
Dear colleague,
As a Trust, we’ve made significant improvements over the past couple of years which have had a lasting impact on our patients, local communities, and staff.
We are no longer in special measures; we have the most improved A&E and are now among the top performers in the country for reporting radiology results; and we are nationally recognised for our innovation in planned care.
This week, we launched our new organisational strategy which will enable us to achieve our new purpose: we want our hospitals to deliver care we’re proud of, and our patients are happy with.
The strategy provides us with a framework to help continue the work we’ve already started so we can listen to what our patients and staff tell us, and change what we do as a result.
Find more information about how we’re going to do that and the strategy on our website.
44 new faces in our nursing teams
In the past two weeks, we have welcomed 44 new nurses from universities across the country.
This is part of a big recruitment push for nurses which will see over 130 new nurses joining us by December, further strengthening our workforce and improving the care our patients receive across our hospitals.
It was also a great week for our nursing staff in our Daisy ward at Goodmayes Hospital, celebrating achieving gold in our ward accreditation programme.
Ward accreditation is part of our ongoing efforts to improve and standardise the quality of care given to patients at our hospitals and sees wards assessed by corporate nurses and subject matter experts.
They are the second ward to achieve gold – well done to the team.
Car park has reopened
The multi-storey car park at Queen's Hospital has fully reopened and we now have a new, improved and fully accessible car park for staff, patients and visitors.
I’d like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding while the works were taking place.
Best wishes,
Matthew Trainer
Chief Executive
