Stakeholder update from Chief Executive Matthew Trainer: 26 July 2024

Dear colleague,

At the start of the week, three of our longest serving nurses were awarded silver in the Chief Nursing Officer Awards, which recognise outstanding contribution.

Juliet Kumar, Tracey Thorne, and Caroline Moore were presented their awards at a special surprise lunch by our Chief Nurse Kathryn Halford.

Individually, they were nominated for going above and beyond in their roles.

Tracey was recognised for her involvement in the development of our ward accreditation scheme. Juliet was put forward her dedication during the Covid-19 pandemic, whilst Caroline was nominated for her exceptional contribution, including reducing vacancy rates in her division by a huge 24%

The trio truly deserve this recognition, well done to you all.

Celebrating our Community Diagnostic Centre

It was a great day yesterday as we marked the opening of our Barking Community Diagnostic Centre.

Stakeholders from across our communities and healthcare heard all about the facility that is helping us perform an extra 50,000 scans a year.

It really is an impressive facility. It has state-of-the-art equipment which allows our teams to carry out quicker and more accurate scans. We also perform innovative tests that are helping detect certain types of cancers quicker.

For residents across north east London, they aren’t waiting as long for appointments, they get their results are quicker, and subsequent treatment quicker if needed, which in turn will improve the health outcomes of patients across the region.

Those living in Barking also now have better access right on their doorstep.

The CDC has already benefited thousands of patients and I’m excited to see it continue.
