Ward accreditation scheme

Ward accreditation is a key component of our ongoing efforts to enhance and standardise the quality of care provided to patients in our hospitals.

Internal assessments are conducted by corporate nurses and subject matter experts. They deliver reports that highlight the ward's strengths. They also identify areas for improvement necessary to achieve the next level of accreditation.

The assessments include various aspects including patient experience, safety, staff morale, operational efficiency, and performance in equality, diversity, and inclusion. Wards receive ratings of bronze, silver, or gold based on their adherence to these standards. Teams work hard to meet rigorous criteria.

Congratulations to Harvest B ward at Queen’s Hospital for attaining silver in our ward accreditation programme.

Ward accreditation is part of our ongoing efforts to improve and standardise the quality of care given to patients at our hospitals and sees wards assessed by corporate nurses and subject matter experts.

They provide a report that tells the ward what they're doing well and what needs to be better to reach the next level. This covers things like patient experience, safety, how staff are feeling, how efficiently the ward runs, and how well they're doing on equality, diversity and inclusion.

Sister Becky Kargbo said:

We put in a lot of extra hard work to be able to achieve a silver.

Thank you to everyone on Harvest B, it was a big team effort!

The team felt a sense of pride in their success and celebrated together with hugs, cheers and tears.

We currently have one gold ward, 19 silver and 19 bronze.

Well done to Bluebell B!
