Welcome to our new nurses and midwives!

Team group of new nurses and midwives

This week we’ve welcomed 50 new nurses and midwives to our Trust – the first group of around 180 who’ll be joining us over the next three months!

We’ve been working hard to ensure they have as smooth a transition as possible as they join their new teams, so if some of these new starters are joining your ward or department, please do everything you can to make them feel welcome.

Our Chief Nurse, Kathryn Halford, met the entire group today (Tuesday 18 September) ahead of their registered nurse induction.

She said: “I am incredibly grateful that these nurses and midwives chose to work here.

“Our Trust is a great place to work, it’s very varied, interesting, and most importantly of all, our teams support each other. I’m sure they can’t wait to get started, and I’m really excited to watch each of them develop their careers at our hospitals.”

To help make our new colleagues feel at home, we’ve created personalised welcome posters with all their names on them. They’ll also benefit from our senior intern programme, to help support them as they find their feet.

They are the results of our successful recruitment programme, following several open events, and lots of hard work to encourage nurses and midwives finishing their degrees to join our Trust.

If you’d like to know more about our nursing and midwifery vacancies view our website or call our recruitment nurse, Beverley Sawer, on extension 2805.
