Our new 2018/19 Operational Plan

Each year we review our objectives and strategies and update our Operational Plan, which sets out our key goals for the year. All of our staff and teams then align their plans to this and understand the role they play in our journey, and we track our progress against it to ensure we deliver our goals.

Our Operational Plan outlines:

  •  Our key organisational priorities for 2018/19 – this year we have set ourselves 10; two for each our five organisational objectives
  • Our proposal for further embedding The PRIDE Way across our hospitals as our method of improving quality of care
  • Some of our quality initiatives (find out more in our Quality Account and our Quality Improvement Plan, launching soon)
  • The improvements we will make against the NHS Constitution requirements
  • How we will continue to attract, develop and retain talented people with the right values and skills to give the best care to our patients

Our key financial targets, including our Quality and Cost Improvement Programme and our expected end of year balance between income and expenditure. This will be detailed in our forthcoming Financial Recovery Plan.

As set out on our Strategic Plan on a Page, we have five organisational objectives. And feeding into these we have our six enabling strategies (clinical; people; Estates; IM&T; Academic; and Communications) that set the direction for us, taking us towards achieving our vision: to provide outstanding healthcare to our community, delivered with PRIDE.

Whilst these objectives and strategies set our direction for several years, our Operational Plan changes annually to reflect our main aims for the year.

The plan also helps us to meet the requirements of our regulator NHS Improvement, informing them of our expectations for the forthcoming year and against which they will monitor our progress. inforgraphics
