New doctors start work on our wards

Junior doctors start at BHRUT

More than 400 doctors are joining our Trust over the next three months as they embark on the next stage of their medical careers. They will be instrumental in helping us provide care to the population we serve.

Welcoming our latest medical trainees, Our Chief Medical Officer, Mamta Shetty Vaidya said:

We value the contribution of our resident doctors and I hope their time here will be valuable and enjoyable as they start the next stage of their medical careers.

Our hospitals will benefit greatly from their skill and expertise.

I would also like to thank our doctors who’ve completed their training with us for their skill, hard work and the compassion they have shown our patients.

One of my main goals as Chief Medical Officer has been to provide a positive and excellent training experience and make sure we look after the well-being of our resident doctors. I am pleased the feedback from outgoing doctors reflects this and I will work to ensure it continues.

Resident doctors, who have more than five years training under their belts, are not medical students but qualified professionals undertaking further training and gaining experience.

All our resident doctors will be invited to join our Junior Doctor Forum where colleagues-in-training of all grades come together to ensure their views and concerns are heard. They can also share knowledge and ideas about improving working conditions.

Joysanna Moraes, Co-Chair of our Junior Doctor Forum, said:

I would like to give a warm welcome to our new doctors. We have made changes to improve their time at our Trust.

Most recently, we’ve worked to make their induction better. There is also a big focus on wellbeing and everyone is committed to ensuring that training needs are met.
