A huge well done to Bluebell B ward at Queen’s Hospital for their success in our ward accreditation programme.

Ward accreditation is part of our efforts to improve and standardise the quality of care given to patients at our hospitals.

Wards are assessed by corporate nurses and subject matter experts. They provide a report that tells the ward what they're doing well and what needs to improve to reach the next level.

The report includes aspects such as patient experience, safety, how staff are feeling, how efficiently the ward runs and how well they are doing on equality, diversity and inclusion.

Senior Sister Precy Basan said the silver accreditation makes her really proud of the team.

Precy said:

“We achieved this silver because of everyone’s hard work, from HCAs to nurses, matrons, doctors to students, our therapists, our ward clerk, all of them helped us to achieve this silver.”

“We’ll be working for gold, definitely!”

And congratulations to Bluebell A, which met the threshold to be assessed for a gold award!

Well done to everyone on both wards!
