A taste of Romford Market comes to Queen’s Hospital

A market stall full of colourful fresh fruit has come to Queen’s Hospital – much to the delight of patients, staff and visitors.

Romford Market trader David Perrott will be outside the Romford hospital, run by the Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust, over the coming weeks as part of a trial.

The stall is in a spot which once housed a smoking shelter, before the site became smoke free. It is hoped that making fruit more accessible for everyone on site will help to encourage healthier eating in the community and among Trust staff.

David said: “It’s a bit different for me as I’m usually in the market place, but we’ve had a really positive reaction. People are pleased to see us here and we’ve been asked if we’re staying.”
