A better experience for all our patients

We’ve launched our new Patient Experience Strategy which aims to help us provide our patients with a better experience while in our hospitals.

The strategy focuses on three streams:

  • Listening and responding to feedback
  • Working with our patient partners
  • Improving accessibility for all.

It was put together following an extensive consultation with community groups, local partners and our patients, and members of our Patient Partnership Council of course.

Their views help us to better understand the needs of our patients, how to provide the best care and how we can ensure our services are accessible to the more vulnerable members of our communities. It also sets out our culture shift from ‘doing to’ patients to ‘working with’ them and their families and carers.

The strategy will run over the next three years, building and improving on current projects and helping us to achieve our aim of providing the highest possible quality of care to our patients, delivered with PRIDE.

Our last strategy saw us introduce lots of improvements to make our patients’ stays with us that little bit better, from visits by Pets as Therapy Dogs and protected mealtimes, to a more welcoming Children’s Emergency Department at Queen’s Hospital and listening events in the community.

So we’ll be looking to see what great new initiatives we can introduce over the next few years.

Under each of the three strands we’ll be committing to five pledges, and our Patient Experience Team will be working with your divisions to develop an action plan and reviewing it annually to ensure we deliver on our pledges.

You can read the strategy below or email Patient Experience Team for more information.
