We’re marking national Volunteers’ Week by encouraging more people to get involved in volunteering at our hospitals.

We currently have 220 volunteers who help out in a range of roles at Queen’s and King George Hospitals.

Victoria Wallen, Head of Patient Experience, said: “All our volunteers make a great contribution to our hospitals, whether they are a friendly face to help a patient find where they are going, or there to help a vulnerable patient eat their lunch. Volunteers’ Week is a great time to say ‘thank you’ to them.

“There are lots of way to play a role, and not only are you helping your local community, there are many benefits for volunteers themselves – you’ll meet lots of people can learn new skills. So if you have some time to spare, we’d love to hear from you.”

You do not need any prior experience to be a volunteer, you just need to be aged 16 or over. There are many ways to help out and you can chose hours to suit you, fitting around your studying or family commitments.

Volunteering opportunities include clerical posts, helping us gain valuable feedback from patients, befrienders, gardeners or fundraisers to help our hospitals’ charity.

Find our more and apply to become a volunteer on our volunteering page. You can also contact our team by email.
