We take inspiration from the dance floor to protect our staff from flu

It was a case of Strictly Flu Fighting at Queen’s Hospital on Friday (30 September) as our staff stepped up the red carpet to get their annual flu jabs.

Each year we encourage as many of our staff as possible to have their flu jab before winter sets in, to protect our patients and visitors.

This year’s campaign has taken inspiration from Strictly Come Dancing – complete with glitterballs, a red carpet and scoring paddles.

Our Chief Executive, Matthew Hopkins, and Medical Director Nadeem Moghal, were leading from the front by being among the first having the jab on Friday.

Deborah Tarrant, Director of People and Organisational Development, said: “Flu is a potentially deadly illness so we really encourage our staff to have the jab. As well as protecting our patients by preventing the bug from spreading at our hospitals, staff can also keep themselves and their own families healthy and flu-free.

“Having a Strictly-themed flu tent at our hospitals makes it as simple and quick as possible for our staff to have the jab, and adds a little fun.”

We’ve also recruited staff flu champions to help raise awareness of the importance of having the jab, and administer it to their colleagues.
